If you’ve been thinking about welcoming a new four-legged companion into your life, local animal shelters across West Yorkshire are once again filled with dogs hoping for a fresh start.
But this week’s showcase features a slightly different, incredibly special rescue charity.
Unlike traditional rescue centres operating out of large kennel facilities, Yorkshire Rose Dog Rescue (YRDR) relies entirely on a dedicated network of foster carers.
Every single dog under their care lives directly in a real home environment across the region while waiting for adoption.
This foster-first approach gives prospective owners a huge advantage: the team and foster parents know every dog’s personality, quirks, house-training progress, and daily routines inside out—from how they react to the vacuum cleaner to how they settle on the sofa for an evening cuddle.
Whether you're looking for an energetic walking partner for weekend trips to the Chevin or a calm senior dog to keep you company at home, YRDR currently has a range of wonderful dogs ready to find their permanent families.
Here are 11 adorable rescue dogs currently in foster care with Yorkshire Rose Dog Rescue who are searching for their forever homes this week:

1. Ernie – Jack Russell Terrier (4 years old)
Ernie is a cheerful four-year-old Jack Russell Terrier currently staying with his foster carer, June. He has proven to be an absolute star. He is fully house-trained, non-destructive, walks brilliantly on his lead, and travels like a dream in the car. He gets along well with other dogs, but his absolute favourite activity in the world is playing fetch. | Yorkshire Rose Dog Rescue

2. Zira – Crossbreed (6 years old)
Zira is a gentle six-year-old crossbreed with a loyal, affectionate nature. She loves daily walks, playing, and relaxing alongside her favourite humans. She gets along well with other dogs and would suit a home with older children. As Zira doesn't travel well in cars, she is looking for a local home where long journeys aren't part of the routine. | Yorkshire Rose Dog Rescue

3. Penny – Staffie Cross (8 years old)
Penny is a goofy, eight-year-old Staffie cross with a heart full of love. Found as a stray, she is an affectionate companion who loves sofa naps, car rides, and playing with her favourite toys. Penny can be reactive around other dogs, so she is seeking a pet-free home with an experienced owner capable of handling a strong, excited dog on lead. | Yorkshire Rose Dog Rescue

4. Mylo – Ridgeback Cross (1 year old)
Mylo is a gorgeous one-year-old Ridgeback cross with a fun-loving, affectionate personality. Despite a tough start in life, he has been an exceptionally well-behaved guest in care who is clean, quiet, and non-destructive. | Yorkshire Rose Dog Rescue

5. Sooty – Staffie (8 years old)
Sooty is an eight-year-old Staffie looking for a forever home following the sad passing of his owner. He is an obedient, loyal, and deeply loving dog who gets along brilliantly with all humans and other dogs alike. Fully house-trained and full of fun, Sooty is currently looking for a foster-to-adopt placement to help him start his fresh chapter. | Yorkshire Rose Dog Rescue

6. Leo – Patterdale Terrier (22 months old)
Leo is a 22-month-old Patterdale Terrier with a big personality and energy to spare. A clever, affectionate lad who loves everyone he meets, he gets along well with other dogs and would suit a home with older children. Leo will thrive in an active household where he can enjoy mental stimulation, fun training, or activities like agility. | Yorkshire Rose Dog Rescue
