As the days get longer and we look toward a fresh start, local rescue centres are filled with feline residents searching for a second chance at happiness.
From playful kittens to distinguished seniors and ‘house panthers’ looking for a sofa to call their own, there is a companion for every type of household.
We looked across the West Yorkshire chapters of Cats Protection to highlight the moggies currently waiting for adopters across the Leeds, Harrogate, and Halifax regions.
Whether they have spent their lives as strays or have found themselves in care through no fault of their own, each of these 25 cats has a unique story and plenty of love to give.

1. Flora – Leeds Cat Centre
Flora is a former stray who has fully embraced the comforts of cattery life, proving herself to be a friendly and loving companion. Potential adopters should note that Flora thrives on a strict hypoallergenic diet, and the team will be happy to provide more information on her specific needs. | Cats Protection

2. Marvin – Leeds Cat Centre
Marvin is a friendly boy who loves human attention, though he prefers a home with older children, as he can occasionally get a little over-stimulated during play. He has been diagnosed with a Grade 3 heart murmur; while he is currently asymptomatic and requires no active treatment, his new owners will need to keep up with regular veterinary check-ups | Cats Protection

3. Mittens – Leeds Cat Centre
Mittens is a vocal and affectionate soul who loves to purr. He is searching for a home where he can be the only cat, allowing him to soak up all the attention before he eventually heads outdoors to explore. Like Marvin, Mittens has a Grade 3 heart murmur that requires an annual heart scan, but his loving personality more than makes up for the extra bit of care he needs. | Cats Protection

4. Mona – Leeds Cat Centre
Beautiful petite Mona is desperate for a permanent sofa to call her own. She is a gentle girl who greets every morning with happy purrs and thrives on human company. While she manages Stage 2 kidney disease with a specialist diet and six-monthly check-ups, she remains a bright and loving cat who simply needs a bit of stability and a lot of love | Cats Protection

5. Polly – Leeds Cat Centre
Polly is a distinguished older lady who is looking for a peaceful, adult-only home where she can be the sole focus of your affection. After being left behind by previous owners, she has blossomed into a sweet companion who loves plenty of strokes. To keep her feeling her best, Polly requires a specialist diet to manage suspected IBD. | Cats Protection

6. Tommy – Leeds Cat Centre
Tommy is currently thriving in a foster home and is known for his super-friendly nature and love of playtime. He is looking for a family with older children and plenty of food-motivation to match his own. Tommy’s previous 'lashing out' has been identified as a symptom of partial seizures, which are now successfully under control with daily medication in his food. | Cats Protection
