As we step into August, the team at Dogs Trust Leeds are hoping to match a whole new wave of lovely rescue dogs with their forever families.
We’ve taken a look at the rehoming centre’s latest lineup - filtering out those who have already had their adoption applications reserved, while bringing back a few familiar faces and long-stay pups who are still holding out for their big break.
From lively young collies and energetic spaniels to affectionate greyhounds, gentle giants, and snuggly seniors, here are 20 adorable pooches currently waiting for a fresh start and a loving home in Leeds.
Will you be able to open your home for one of them this month?

1. Jupiter (Doberman)
Jupiter is a fully housetrained 6-year-old Doberman looking for a calm, adult-only home with no other pets. He is a "Velcro dog" who needs someone around most of the time and a secure garden with high fencing. While he can be worried by other dogs, he happily wears his muzzle and has made great progress with his training. | Dog's Trust

2. Buddy (German Shepherd Dog Cross)
While Buddy can be anxious meeting new people and exploring new places, his fun, playful side completely shines through once he feels confident. Buddy has hip dysplasia, but it doesn't hold him back from a happy, active life, and Dogs Trust may help support ongoing medical costs. | Dogs Trust Leeds

3. Hunter (Siberian Husky)
This stunning lad is a classic Husky through and through—he loves exploring the outdoors on interesting walks and loves to use his voice a lot. While he is not a "snuggle on the sofa" type, he thoroughly enjoys human company and becomes increasingly interactive as he gets to know you. Hunter finds kennel life a challenge and needs a peaceful, adult-only home where he can be the only pet and focus on a new routine. | Dogs Trust Leeds

4. Ivy (Staffordshire Bull Terrier Cross)
Ivy is a beautiful 16-month-old Staffy Cross who had a very difficult start to life. She was born at the Dogs Trust centre but was unfortunately the ‘runt’ of the litter. It took a lot of work to keep her going but she eventually grew stronger. Sadly, she has spent her entire life so far with the Dogs Trust as her tricky start has left her very anxious and lacking in confidence. | Dogs Trust Leeds

5. Nuche (Lurcher Cross)
This super smart, exceptionally fun, and handsome two-year-old Lurcher cross is a clever cookie who is already house-trained and bursting with potential. Because of a natural Lurcher chase instinct, he needs a calm, adult-only home where he is the only pet, and should be walked in peaceful areas away from livestock. | Dogs Trust Leeds

6. Buster (Staffordshire Bull Terrier Cross)
Buster is a "really fun and affectionate" young dog who is looking for a patient owner to help him continue his training. He is very smart and picks up new things quickly, though he can be anxious and takes medication to help him stay calm. Buster needs a peaceful, adult-only home where he is the only pet and has a secure garden to play in. | Leeds Dogs' Trust
