Meet Edie: Leeds' loneliest dog who’s had 41 first dates but no forever home
While couples across Leeds prepare to celebrate Valentine’s day, one hopeful heart at Dogs Trust Leeds is still waiting for her perfect match.
Seven-year-old Shar-Pei Edie has been searching for love for more than 2,000 days.
She arrived at the York Road Centre in August 202 after the death of her owner and has had an incredible 41 ‘first dates’ with potential adopters.
But The One is still out of reach for the beautiful pooch and the team at the centre are desperately hoping that they can play Cupid with her true love just around the corner.
Edie is looking for someone who can give her a helping paw as she adjusts back into life in the home, and, like many long-term dogs, it may take her a bit longer to feel comfortable in a new environment.
However, when she does, the Dogs Trust team is confident her sweet, playful and gentle nature will shine through.

Kelly Walker, manager at Dogs Trust Leeds, said: "Gorgeous Edie has made such wonderful progress while being with us at Dogs Trust Leeds, showing just how confident, cuddly and affectionate she can be.
"Edie has a real zest for life and has gone for sleepovers with her handlers, showing herself to be the perfect houseguest.
“After 41 ‘first dates’ that didn’t quite work out, this friendly girl is still looking for her soulmate - a patient, loving adopter who can help her settle in at her own pace. Once she finds the love of her life, she is sure to show herself as the most wonderful companion."
This gentle pooch is looking for an adult-only home, where she can be the only pet, giving her the best environment to settle in at her own pace and re-adjust to the comforts of life in the home.
But it isn't just Edie who is looking for a forever home this Valentine's Day. To find out more about Edie and the other dogs available for rehoming from Dogs Trust Leeds, visit www.dogstrust.org.uk/leeds.
