And now Jess, the one-year-old German Shepherd Crossbreed, has found loving new owners thanks to the dedicated team at Dogs Trust Leeds.
The pooch struggled with confidence around people, but thanks to the team, she started to come out of her shell, before finding her forever home in January 2026.
She is just one of a number of dogs who have been waved off by the team for the new homes.
And as part of a new series launching in the Yorkshire Evening Post we’re showcasing the canine companions who have a whole new lease of life.

An 18 month old Labrador Crossbreed arrived at Dogs Trust Leeds after her owners moved and were unable to take her with them. Tilly went into foster care, where her carers fell for her so much, they adopted her in late February. | Leeds Dogs Trust
