Why these Leeds rescue dogs hope for a Christmas miracle - and you can help make it happen

Leeds Dogs Trust is hoping to spread some festive cheer - not just for its human visitors but for the dogs waiting patiently to find their forever homes in time for Christmas.

The team have launched an appeal to ask the city to help decorate the centre to transform it into a winter wonderland filled with twinkling lights and tails that won’t stop wagging.

The York Road centre have appeal on social media for a number of items after dusting off their decorations to find they are beyond their best now.

They are on the search for artificial Christmas trees, ideally 7ft and over, fairy lights, baubles and other tree decorations.

Their post said: “We love trimming up the centre so that our rescue dogs, staff and visitors can enjoy the festive period.

“So we’re turning to you our pawsome supporters to ask if you have any spare of unwanted Christmas decorations that you no longer require and that you’d like to donate to us?

“We’ve recycled and re-used our current decorations for so many, MANY years, lots of which were previously donated, so we’d love to continue re-using anything you can spare for many more years to come.”

Donations need to be dropped off before Sunday, November 23.

And the centre has warned people that if they want to make any donations they should contact them in advance to organise a drop off time.
