Work begins on new Primark store set to open in Wakefield's Trinity Walk

Work on the new Primark store, that will open in Trinity Walk, has begun.

The clothing store currently resides in The Ridings Shopping Centre, however, it was announced earlier this year that the centre will be demolished to make way for a major regeneration project.

In March, Trinity Walk announced that Primark would move into the old Debenhams unit – below the recently opened Tenpin entertainment complex.

The newly relocated store will be set across one floor and cover 30,000 square feet of retail space.

All 70 colleagues in Primark’s Wakefield store team, including nine managers, are expected to move with the store to the new location.

James White, Trinity Walk's centre manager, said: "This is one of our biggest signings to date alongside Tenpin, which occupies the same unit but across the upper floor.

"So it's great to see works progressing on the ground floor, with a hoarding now up to allow for new glazing and framework to go in.

"These are exciting times for us here at Trinity Walk and Primark will compliment more than 20 great new additions to the centre since early 2022."

While there is no set reopening date for the new Wakefield store, more updates are expected later this year.
