Two new gadgets are aimed at families looking for creative activities at home, with one printing full-colour photographs and the other bringing projected lyrics to a karaoke session.

The Photo Creator Instant Colour Camera and Music Creator Karaoke Projector have been launched ahead of the Christmas shopping season.

The camera lets users take digital photographs, review their shots, and select which ones to print in full colour. The karaoke projector combines projected content, a speaker, and two wireless microphones, allowing two people to sing together without a separate sound system. Both products are designed for activities that can involve more than one person.

The camera produces prints that can be shared or displayed, while the projector puts the lyrics onto a larger surface so others in the room can follow the song. The camera lets users choose what to print.

The Photo Creator Instant Colour Camera gives children a chance to try several photographs before committing one to paper. Pictures can be saved digitally, and select images can be printed for a scrapbook, bedroom display, or family photo album.

It’s particularly useful for group shots, where the first attempt is rarely the favourite. It also gives children more freedom to experiment with what they photograph, whether that be a portrait, a pet, or a scene from a day out.

Unlike instant cameras that rely on film for every exposure, this model separates taking the picture from printing it. Users can look through their images and decide which ones they want physical copies of. The camera uses dedicated photo sheets and an ink cartridge for its full-colour prints.

A refill pack costing £24.99 provides supplies for up to 100 prints, making refills relatively inexpensive compared with many traditional instant-film formats.

The ability to choose shots before printing can also help the supplies last longer. For families, the appeal of an instant camera is often what happens after the picture is taken. A print can be handed to a friend, pinned to a board or sent home with a relative. The digital version remains on the camera, while the physical copy gives the photograph somewhere to live outside a screen.

The Music Creator Karaoke Projector takes a different approach to family entertainment. It combines a projector with a party speaker and comes with two wireless microphones, making it suitable for duets as well as solo performances. Lyrics and other content can be projected for singers to follow.

Users can also cast content from a phone, giving them a way to choose what to play without setting up several separate pieces of equipment. The two microphones are likely to be a useful feature at parties and family gatherings, where taking turns can be as much a part of karaoke as the performance itself.

The projected display also lets other people join in from across the room, even when they are not holding a microphone. The launches arrive as families begin considering Christmas gifts, but neither product is tied to the season.

The camera is intended for photos taken throughout the year, while the projector offers an activity for birthdays, sleepovers and evenings at home. Together, they reflect two different uses for home technology: making a photograph worth keeping and turning a familiar song into a shared event.
