Asda, Morrisons and Tesco recall popular meat free burgers due to serious health risk

Major UK supermarkets have recalled Linda McCartney burgers due to it containing an ingredient which is not displayed on the packaging label.
Linda McCartney has recalled the Linda McCartney 2 Vegetarian 1/4lb burgers due to the product containing milk, an ingredient not displayed on the label.
The company has also issued a point-of-sale notice to its customers.
According to the Food Standard Agency (FSA), this means “the product is a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents.”
What action has Linda McCartney taken?
The FSA added: “Linda McCartney is recalling the product from consumers and has been advised to contact the relevant allergy support organisations, which will tell their members about the recall.
“The company has also issued a point-of-sale notice to its customers. These notices explain to customers why the product is being recalled and tell them what to do if they have bought the product.”
The batch codes of the items affected are 20922, 21022 and 21122 and can be found under the best before date which is January 2024.
The affected products best before date is January 2024 and the pack size is 227g.
What do I do if I have the product?
People who have an allergy or intolerance to milk are urged not to eat the burgers.
They are encouraged to return the items to the store where it was bought for a full refund, with Linda McCartney adding that no receipt is required. Consumers can also contact Linda McCartney Consumer Care on 0800 0014409.
A spokesperson for Linda McCartney said: “A small number of cartons have been packed with Linda McCartney Mozzarella
“Burgers which contain MILK that is not declared in the ingredients list on the packaging.
“Please do not consume this product if you have an allergy to MILK, return the product to the store of purchase for a full refund. No receipt is required.
“No other date codes or Linda Mccartney products are affected by this recall.
“We apologise for the inconvenience caused.”
