Leeds shoppers left surprised as independent city centre plant shop shuts without warning

An independent houseplant shop in Leeds city centre has closed without warning.

Sharp-eyed shoppers were the first to notice that Nice Things on Lower Briggate has shut its doors in recent days.

Nice Things opened its original shop in Manchester in 2021, before expanding to Leeds in the summer of 2024.

The plant nursery specialises in unique and rare houseplants and accessories and hosts a range of workshops.

Nice Things has yet to comment on the closure, leaving fans of the store in the dark. One person asked: “Did your Leeds branch close? Please tell me you’ve only moved units and not left Leeds forever.”

The premises won't sit empty for long, however, with Sheffield-based Made Matcha and Acai Bar already advertising in the shop window.

Nice Things have confirmed that the Manchester branch remains open. Yorkshire Evening Post has requested a comment.
