An inquest has opened into the death of a 16-year-old boy who died after the off road motorbike he was riding was involved in a collision in Pontefract.

Acting senior coroner Oliver Longstaff said the motorbike was involved in a collision and that no other vehicles were involved.

Police previously said the collision happened on Eastbourne Terrace just after 5pm.

Mr Longstaff said Logan was taken to Pinderfields Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 6.20pm that day.

The court heard consultant pathologist Dr Lisa Barker carried out a post mortem which revealed Logan died from neck and chest injuries.

The court was told Logan lived in Eggborough.

Mr Longstaff adjourned the inquest to date yet to be fixed.

Earlier this week West Yorkshire Police confirmed that no further action will be taken against a 13-year-old-boy initially arrested as part of the investigation.

The force has previously announced it made a mandatory referral to the IOPC on the evening of the collision.

Officers had sighted the motorbike involved, but they were not pursuing it.
