Convicted dealer living in 'luxury' caught peddling drugs in Castleford

Judge told him that jail was the only option

A known drug dealer was found with a stash of crack cocaine at his “luxury penthouse” after being arrested.

‘Greedy’ Kamran Hussain, who has been jailed before, was found selling the substances in Castleford.

The 25-year-old appeared at Leeds Crown Court this week, with the judge telling him he was facing an inevitable custodial sentence before details were even outlined.

Prosecutor Victoria Barker said a patrolling police officer had been in Castleford at around 5.45pm on August 9.

They spotted a Ford Focus that appeared to speed up when they saw the marked car, arousing suspicion.

The Focus nearly collided with another car, so the officer pulled it over.

Hussain was in the passenger seat. He was found to have a bag that contained £599 in cash and cannabis.

They searched his home - a “luxury penthouse apartment” in Bradford - where they found £2,600 in cash and 50 wraps of crack cocaine, along with further cannabis.

They also found a Rolex watch, but it transpired to be a fake.

He also had a machete under his bed and they also found bicarbonate soda.

Hussain, now of no fixed address, admitted dealing in cannabis and crack cocaine, along with possession of criminal property.

He was jailed previously for 38 months for dealing drugs.

Mitigating, Lydia Pearce said Hussain had entered an early guilty plea.

She said due to family issues he had been left homeless so “fell back into drug dealing sadly”.

Judge Geoffrey Marson told Hussain, who appeared in court over a video link from HMP Leeds: “It’s perfectly apparent to me you have returned to drug dealing in a significant way.

“You had gone back to your old ways. You did it for greed and money.”

He jailed him for 44 months.
