Murder investigation launched after death of young woman found with serious injuries in Leeds street
Detectives have launched a murder investigation following the death of a young woman in Leeds.
West Yorkshire Police were called to Kennerleigh Avenue, Austhorpe, at 5.55am today (Saturday March 28) following reports that a young woman had been found unconscious in the street.
She was found to have serious injuries and rushed to hospital for emergency treatment, but was pronounced dead a short time later.
Detectives have issued an urgent appeal to identify the victim, so her next of kin can be notified of her death.
A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Police described her as “being mid to late teens, approximately 5ft 2ins tall, and of slim build with tanned skin, green eyes and brown hair featuring darker roots with blonder ends.
“She also wears fixed metal braces on both her upper and lower teeth.”

Four people were arrested from a nearby address on suspicion of murder, police have confirmed. They are two 18-year-old women, a 20-year-old man, and a 17-year-old boy.
A police scene is in place on Kennerleigh Avenue while the Homicide and Major Enquiry Team continues its investigation.
Senior Investigating Officer, Detective Chief Superintendent Marc Bowes, said: “This is an extremely complex investigation where a young woman has sadly lost her life.
“We are treating her death as murder and have arrested four people in connection with it.
“Despite carrying out extensive enquiries throughout the course of today we have not yet been able to confirm her identity.
“We hope by releasing these details that someone will recognise who she is and come forward.
“I am also keen to speak to anyone who was in the Kennerleigh Avenue area in the early hours of this morning, or anyone who may have seen any suspicious activity in the vicinity.”
Police have asked anyone who has information that could assist the investigation to contact the Homicide and Major Enquiry Team by calling 101 or via the West Yorkshire Police live chat, quoting log 280 of March 28.
