Motorist denies dangerous driving that caused death of 'beautiful' teenager on A1(M) at Ferrybridge
He will now stand trial in 2028
A motorist has denied causing the death of a teenager in a horror smash in West Yorkshire.
Mark Lee appeared at Leeds Crown Court this morning in relation to the fatal incident on the A1(M) in August 2024.
Sixteen-year-old Sarah Cain was killed in the pile-up near Ferrybridge.
Lee, 47, pleaded not guilty to causing death by dangerous driving, causing death by dangerous driving while not having a licence or insurance, and two charges of causing serious injury through dangerous driving.
The trial date has been fixed for November 20, 2028. It is expected to take up to seven days.
Lee, of West Moor Road, Raskelf, York, was bailed until then.

Miss Cain, from Hartlepool, died during the multi-vehicle crash between J40 and J41 at Ferrybridge on the afternoon of August 29, 2024.
A Citroen C5 was in collision with a Kia Niro, in which Miss Cain was travelling, and both vehicles then collided with a Subaru Outback towing a caravan.
Miss Cain was left in a critical condition and sadly died in hospital a short time later. Two others suffered serious injuries.
In a statement days after the fatal crash, Sarah’s family said: “We as a family are devastated by the death of our beautiful Sarah.
“She is and always will be irreplaceable.”
