A motorist will stand trial after denying killing a motorist through dangerous driving.

Brian McClure, 74, was hit and killed by a Honda Civic in Castleford last year.

A trial date has been set for December 11, 2028 and it is expected to last up to four days.

Bamber, of Westfield Lane, Kippax, was granted bail.

Mr McClure, who was from York, was hit by the Honda on Barnsdale Road in Castleford on the afternoon of February 18, 2025, and died at the scene.

The collision happened at 2.43pm when the car was travelling away from Castleford towards Allerton Bywater and failed to stop at the scene. It happened close to the bridge over the Aire & Calder Navigation.

In a tribute his family said: “We are sorry to announce the loss of Brian McClure. Brian was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather.

"A kind, warm and loving man, he will be hugely missed by all.

"A life cruelly cut short.”

Mr McClure had spent decades as the honorary secretary of York Rugby Union Football Club (RUFC).
