Moment ‘stolen’ car flipped onto its roof after 110mph police chase - as driver escapes unscathed

"Thankfully, nobody was injured during this 15-minute pursuit” 🔴

This was the shocking moment that a speeding car flipped onto its roof after crashing following a dramatic 110mph police chase.

Officers were led on the high-speed pursuit that started in Greater Manchester and came to a dramatic end in Slaithwaite, West Yorkshire. It began after police attempted to stop a stolen vehicle in Oldham on Thursday (June 18) night.

Dashcam footage captured officers asking the driver of a black Seat Leon to pull over, before the car sped off.

Police said they suspected the vehicle - stolen the previous night from Prestwich, Bury - was displaying false plates.

The driver - a man in his 20s - was seen weaving through traffic and driving on the wrong side of the road at high speed. The 15-minute chase reached speeds of up to 110mph as the vehicle headed towards the West Yorkshire border.

At one point, the driver shot across a junction at 50mph. The pursuit came to an end in Slaithwaite, when the car collided with a corner, flipped through the air and landed on its roof.

The suspect was miraculously unharmed. He pulled himself from the wreckage, but was arrested just metres away moments later.

He was arrested on suspicion of burglary and dangerous driving.

PS Bobby Nasim, from Greater Manchester Police's tactical vehicle intercept unit, said: "This suspect showed a complete disregard for the safety of everyone else on the road or the pedestrians on the pavement as he was speeding down High Street in Oldham.

"Despite initially stopping for officers, he chose to flee and at excessive speeds into West Yorkshire in a stolen car.

"His actions could very easily have resulted in serious injuries or worse, both for innocent members of the public and the responding officer.

"Thankfully, nobody was injured during this 15-minute pursuit.

"Those who think they can evade justice by driving dangerously should be under no illusion – our officers will continue to catch those who think they can use our roads to enable their criminality.

"I would like to thank the officer involved in this incident for their professionalism throughout what was a fast-moving and potentially dangerous incident."
