'Smirking' pervert groped woman in Leeds who tried to help him

He has a history of sexual offending

A smiling pervert who groped a woman that tried to help him has been returned to jail.

Lloyd Morris has been locked up previously for masturbating in public and sexually assaulting two women.

The 38-year-old appeared at Leeds Crown Court this week after sexually assaulting another woman.

Prosecutor Andrew Nixon said Morris had been near unconscious in Leeds city centre.

When a woman tried to help him, he woke up and grabbed her breast over her clothing. She slapped his hand away.

The victim later said homeless Morris was smirking at her and did not apologise.

He admitted a charge of sexual assault. The court heard he had been held in custody since his arrest.

He was last before the courts in September last year for breaching the sex offender register, receiving a 32-week suspended sentence.

It had taken several attempts to sentence him because he would regularly turn up for court intoxicated.

Mitigating, Zarreen Alam-Cheetham said Morris’ memory of his latest offence was “poor” but that he “certainly feels regret”.

She added: “He is clearly struggling with substance abuse and clearly has a chaotic lifestyle.

“Even if he were to be released he would be homeless and have nowhere to go.

“This is a cycle he is struggling to end. It’s a very sad state of affairs.”

Judge Anesh Pema told Morris it was a “deliberate act” and referred to his previous sexual convictions.

He jailed him for 13 weeks and activated 26 weeks of his suspended sentence - a total of 39 weeks.
