Two armed teenagers were detained at Leeds Kirkgate Market
Two teenage boys were arrested in Leeds city centre over the bank holiday weekend after allegedly being found with weapons and drugs.
At around 1pm on Saturday (May 23), police officers at Kirkgate Market spotted a teenage boy who appeared to be carrying a knife.
The 16-year-old attempted to run away from officers, but only made it a short distance before being detained.
He was found to be in possession of a knife and a quantity of cannabis.
He was arrested alongside a 15-year-old boy, who was found carrying an extendable baton. Both weapons were seized.
The 15-year-old told police he had been the victim of a robbery.
Both teenagers were later bailed with conditions to allow police to urgently continue their investigation.
Leeds City Council has been approached for further comment.
