The 35-year-old, of Hawthorne Close, Gildersome, Morley, appeared in court over a video link from HMP Manchester, where he is being held on remand.

The court was told that a basis of plea - his reasons for his involvement - is forthcoming and that will be submitted in the coming weeks for the Crown to consider.

No sentencing date was set with three other suspects due to stand trial.

Briggs was remanded back into custody following the brief hearing.

The offence of conspiracy to import Class A drugs can attract up to 16 years in jail and in some cases, a life sentence.
