Ex-West Yorkshire Police staffer given suspended sentence after lying over speeding ticket
A former West Yorkshire Police staff member received a suspended sentence for perverting the course of justice over a speeding ticket.
Kasey Howarth, who was based at Operational Support, admitted that she falsely declared herself to be the driver of a speeding Ford Transit van.
It comes after an investigation by the Independent Office for Police Conduct’s (IOPC) anti-corruption unit.

At the time of the offence, the 43-year-old worked at West Yorkshire Police’s Central Process Bureau, where she processed speeding tickets.
She was placed on restricted duties at the start of the investigation and resigned from her position while the inquiry was ongoing.
Howarth named herself as the driver of the Transit at the time it was caught speeding, when it had actually been driven by her co-accused, James Burrow.
Detective Chief Superintendent Tanya Wilkins, head of West Yorkshire Police’s Professional Standards Directorate, said: “The public quite rightly expect all of our officers and staff to act with honesty and integrity both on and off duty, and Ms Howarth has clearly breached those standards here.
“She will now face disciplinary proceedings to consider whether she will be barred from gaining further employment in policing.”
Howarth and Burrow both admitted perverting the course of justice at a hearing at Leeds Crown Court in September of this year.
Last Friday (November 14), Howarth was given a nine-month suspended sentence while Burrow was given a six-month suspended sentence, both suspended for a year.
They were also ordered to pay costs and do 200 hours of community work.
