Wetherby Boots smashed in and badly damaged as police launch investigation

Police have been called to a Boots shop in a Leeds town, as pictures show the shopfront smashed in.

There is extensive damage to the pharmacy in the Horsefair Centre, North Street, in what one local shopkeeper described as a scene of “devastation”.

Shopfront windows and a shutter have been broken into, and there is damage to displays and stock. The shop is closed, and does not open on Sundays, but the road is open to cars and pedestrians.

A spokesperson for Boots said: “We can confirm that an incident took place at our Boots Wetherby Horsefair Centre store on Sunday morning.

“We are assisting the police with their investigation and will reopen as soon as it is safe to do so.”

Officers were at the scene earlier this morning, but have now departed.

West Yorkshire Police have been contacted for a statement.
