Stourton fire: Leeds residents urged to keep windows shut as blaze breaks out at waste management site
⚠️ Avoid the area
Residents are being urged to keep windows and doors shut as firefighters tackle a large blaze at a waste management site in Leeds.
West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service were called to the centre in Valley Farm Road, Stourton, at around 12.45am today (Saturday August 8).

They have sent 12 crews and supporting teams to the incident.
A WYFRS spokesperson said: “We currently have 12 crews and supporting teams in attendance at a fire at a waste management centre on Valley Farm Road in the Stourton area of Leeds.
“We're asking residents in the LS10 area to keep doors and windows shut, and avoid the area while we work.”
In an update at 8am, the fire service said: “Six crews and two aerial appliances remain at the scene tackling the fire. Please continue to avoid the area and keep doors and windows closed.
“Firefighters are using large jets and aerial appliances to bring the fire under control.”
The blaze follows a separate fire in Stourton on Wednesday, with smoke and flames captured billowing from an industrial park in Haigh Park Road.
Eight crews were sent to the scene and an investigation has been launched into the cause of that fire.
