Dalton Mills fire: Firefighters battle ‘large fire’ at historic West Yorkshire mill - as update issued
West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue have issued an update ⚠️
Firefighters have been battling a “large fire” at a historic mill in West Yorkshire overnight.
Crews were called to the Grade-II* listed Dalton Mills on Saturday (September 12) evening. Engines remain at the scene this morning (September 13), it has been confirmed.
Residents near the former textile mill in Keighley were urged to “keep their windows and doors closed” last night.

In an initial statement online yesterday, West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue said: “At approximately 8:00pm, we were called to a large fire involving Dalton Mills, Keighley.
“We currently have 12 fire engines at the incident as firefighters continue to tackle the large incident.
“Please avoid the area while emergency crews work at the scene. Residents nearby are advised to keep their windows and doors closed until further notice.
“Thank you for your cooperation. Further incident updates to follow.”
Issuing an update this morning, the fire service added: “The incident at Dalton Mills remains ongoing this morning. Two fire engines are still in attendance, however the situation is now under control.
“We would like to thank local residents and communities for their patience, understanding and support while crews remained at the scene throughout the night. The incident will continue to be monitored and further updates will be provided if required.”
Robbie Moore, the MP for Keighley and Ilkley, said in a video posted on X: “You already will have seen that we have had another major fire in the centre of Keighley, which is deeply infuriating.
“This situation just simply cannot continue.
“I’ve been calling on our local authority to secure this site as best as possible for years now, and this is our next major fire.”
