Emergency crews comment after Wickes staff help clear Leeds Ring Road following horror crash
Emergency crews have provided information following a major collision on Leeds Ring Road at the weekend.
The ring road was closed at Moor Allerton from Sunday morning and into the afternoon after a car crashed at the entrance to the Wickes store and caused a boulder to roll into the road.
Yorkshire Ambulance Service have issued a statement, saying: “We received an emergency call just before 10am on Sunday morning (February 22) to report a collision on the ring road, Leeds close to the Moor Allerton Centre.
“Two ambulances, an air ambulance and team leader were dispatched to the scene and one patient was conveyed to Leeds General Infirmary by road.”

A West Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “Police were called at 9.56am on Sunday 22 February to a report of a one vehicle collision on the Ring Road at Moortown.
“The driver was taken to hospital.”
Emergency crews have not provided an update on the current condition of the driver.
A manager at the Wickes store told the YEP that emergency crews asked to borrow a forklift truck to help remove the boulder from the road.
Joe Birthwright added that it appeared the vehicle “had a couple of barrel roles” before colliding with the Wickes sign, going into the bushes and knocking into the boulder.
He added that the road closure caused “commotion” for drivers, who were directed onto nearby roads or the opposite carriageway.
