Firefighters called to White Rose Shopping Centre in Leeds as grass fire breaks out
The fire was close to the railway line
Firefighters have been called out to a Leeds shopping centre after a grass fire broke out.
West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service (WFRS) received a call to report the fire behind the White Rose Shopping Centre shortly after 10.50am today.
Two fire engines were deployed to bring the fire under control.
Crews were supported by teams from Network Rail, as the fire was located close to the railway line.
At 12.50pm, a spokesperson for WYFRS said: “The fire has now been extinguished.
“Thank you to members of the public and local residents for their cooperation and support while crews dealt with the incident.”
It comes after a large pallet fire in Stourton on Wednesday, with smoke and flames captured billowing from an industrial park.
Eight crews were sent to the scene and an investigation has been launched into the cause of the fire.
