A Leeds Bradford Airport spokesperson said a private light aircraft came in to land unexpectedly at the airport last night (Friday).

“Pilot was concerned about his fuel level so a ‘crash alarm’ was sounded,” the spokesperson added.

“Sounds very dramatic but essentially the airport responded to the crash alarm and there was no emergency.

“He landed safely and taxied to Multiflight. The emergency services arrive as standard if a crash alarm is sounded. All OK.”

Police and fire services have been contacted for further comment.
