Pictures have captured the scale of the damage caused to a former restaurant near Leeds after a fire broke out overnight.
Crews from North and West Yorkshire rushed to the scene on Old Great North Road in Brotherton, Knottingley, at around 10.15pm on Monday (September 21), with residents urged to avoid the area.
Fire crews remained at the scene overnight as they worked to bring the blaze under control. Both the A162 and Old Great North Road were closed while emergency services dealt with the incident.
The blaze happened at an empty building which was formerly the site of Thaal Indian Restaurant, which closed in February this year, according to the BBC. It had previously been a pub before being converted into a restaurant.
Yorkshire Evening Post photographer Gerard Binks captured these 14 pictures showing the extent of the damage.
