Man in his 70s dies after car crashes into Leeds and Liverpool Canal in Saltaire, West Yorkshire

A man has died after a car crashed into the Leeds and Liverpool Canal last night.
Officers were called at 6.45pm last night (Sunday) to reports that a silver Range Rover Evoque had gone into the canal at Hirst Mill Crescent in Saltaire.
Emergency services attended and officers entered the water and rescued a man from the vehicle.
Medical treatment was given to a 74-year-old man but sadly he was pronounced dead at the scene.
West Yorkshire Police are investigating and are keen to speak to anyone who was in the area prior to the collision or who saw the vehicle enter the water.
