A1(M) closure: Woman in serious condition after falling from bridge onto motorway near Leeds and Pontefract

Police were called to reports of concern for a woman’s safety after a number of reports of a body in the carriageway on the northbound A1 close to junction 41 at 12:36am this morning (Friday).

Roads policing officers attended the scene where they located the woman who had significant injuries consistent with having fallen from a nearby bridge.

She was treated by paramedics at the scene before being transported to hospital where her injuries are understood to be serious but not life threatening.

The road was re-opened shortly after 7:30am.
