Visitors 'shocked and saddened' after man's body found by dog walker at Roundhay Park

Visitors to a popular Leeds park were left “shocked and saddened” after a man’s body was found.

A cordon was put in place this morning (Tuesday) at Roundhay Park after a man’s body was found by a dog walker near to Waterloo Lake.

Summer-Meiyang Savi, who was having a morning walk, said she was approached by officers near the café at around 9.30am.

She said: “Shortly afterwards a female dog walker with two little Yorkies came over.

“Not even 30 seconds after we finished talking she saw his body (sic) and officers were running over and clearing people away.”

She said that the cordon was in place for around two hours and that she was “shocked and saddened” by the incident.

She said: “I feel terrible for the lady who found him.”

A West Yorkshire Police spokesperson said this morning that the death was not being treated as suspicious.

The force has been approached for a further comment.
