Travellers are being warned to expect diversions and delays while road closures are in place.

First Bus buses have diverted their routes while firefighters remain at the site.

The 16 towards Whinmoor and the 40 towards Leeds have been diverted via Ring Road, Coal Road, Hebden Approach, and Sherburn Road, until further notice.

The Old Red Lion was first built in the 1760s, but the pub has been shuttered since 2021.

Earlier this year, McDonald’s submitted updated plans to open a drive-thru restaurant at the site.
