'Keeping fit is greatest gift' Fitness icon Mr Motivator brings music, dance and nostalgia to Leeds
Fitness icon and TV legend Mr Motivator is bringing his boundless energy to Leeds, promising an evening of music, movement, and feel-good nostalgia.
The event, Rewind - The Ultimate Throwback Party, takes place at Archive, Kirkstall Road, today, Friday November 15.

It combines classic hits from across the decades with Mr Motivator’s infectious enthusiasm and fun, accessible dance moves.
Speaking to the Yorkshire Evening Post, Mr Motivator, whose real name is Derrick Evans MBE, said: “We’re trying various kinds of formulas and the most successful one was where we actually got the local community to come out and have a grown-up party where they finish by 11 o’clock.
“It’s really colourful - music from the 60s, 70s, 80s - and I’ve never seen such joy.”
The 72-year-old stressed that the event isn’t about tough workouts or fitness fads , but about rediscovering the joy of movement.
He said: “My message has always been the same. There’s laughter and there’s movement, you feel better about yourself, and that’s one of the best medicines you can have.
“You don’t have to do aerobics, you don’t have to go to the gym - just have a night out where you’re socialising, where you’re dancing. You leave with a good feeling, and that can last for weeks.”
Guests can expect “a vibrant night from the moment they walk in”, with music pumping and goodie bags to kickstart the evening.
Mr Motivator said: “When you arrive, me and my team will be there all dressed in bright colours. Everyone gets a goodie bag, which has all kinds of gifts. It’s just going to be one big party.”
And of course, his signature bright Lycra is part of the fun.
He said: “I have so many outfits. I honestly don’t really have a favourite because everything is specially made for me.
“I just wear whatever I feel like as long as it’s bright, loud, and brash. My wardrobe is full of it, and I even give some away. If people request one, I ask them to make a donation to my charity.”
He emphasised that the night is about fun, not complicated routines or punishing exercise.
He said: “Too many people get injured by burpees and star jumps. In my classes, I keep it simple, I make it fun, I use good music and attitude, and I leave you with a smile on your face. What more do you want?”
Mr Motivator, who has inspired generations since his GMTV days, says the appeal of Rewind is its simplicity and social aspect.
He said: “People underestimate how multi-faceted dancing is. It’s physical, mental, and social. We say to people: dance like there’s no tomorrow, dance like no one’s watching.”
For those worried about keeping fit while having fun, he has some advice.
“The greatest gift you can give yourself, your family, and friends is a healthier you.,” he said.
“You can’t look after anybody unless you’re looking after yourself. Every carer and every person looking after someone else should start by moving their body. That’s why we’re taking Rewind around the country - the response has been so positive.”
Tickets are available for those who want to experience the energy firsthand, enjoy a night of nostalgia, and get moving with Mr Motivator himself.
He added: “With the right music, the right attitude, you’re going to have the time of your life. You’ll come away feeling amazing.”
