Two Leeds landmarks shortlisted for prestigious RIBA Yorkshire Awards 2026
Seven Yorkshire projects, including two in Leeds, have been nominated for a prestigious regional architecture award.
Projects including a rural lodge conversion and two office buildings in Leeds’ Wellington Place are shortlisted for this year’s Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) Yorkshire Awards 2026.
Calverley Old Hall, a Grade I-listed medieval house which was rescued by Historic England after being added to the ‘at risk’ register, is also amongst the seven finalists.

The shortlisted projects are:
- 11 & 12 Wellington Place in Leeds, designed by tp bennett
- Bracken Lodge in Brighouse, by ArkleBoyce Architects Ltd
- Calverley Old Hall in Calverley, by Cowper Griffith Architects LLP
- Heritage Quad: York Minster Centre of Excellence in York, by Tonkin Liu Architects
- Technology Hub: York Minster Centre of Excellence in York, by Tonkin Liu Architects
- The Laurels in Kirklees, by phi Architects
- Yorkshire house for a couple in North Yorkshire, by Rural Solutions Limited & Sadler Brown Architects-Group
RIBA Yorkshire jury chair Charlotte Harrison said: "This year's shortlist of seven projects embodied a high level of architectural quality across a broad spectrum of criteria.
“From a large-scale city centre office development and a centre for the advancement of heritage skills to the reuse of a Grade I listed Hall and a secluded residence within a regenerated landscape setting, I'm excited to visit the projects across Yorkshire alongside the jury."
All seven projects will be visited by a regional jury, with the winning projects announced later this spring.
Winners will then be considered for a number of RIBA Yorkshire Special Awards, including awards for sustainability and building of the year, before being considered for the RIBA National Award, announced in the summer.
