Motorpoint has announced plans to open a store in Leeds in a move the company said would create 40 new jobs.

The new opening will mark the used car retailer’s 22nd location.

The move comes as part of a bid from Motorpoint to expand its regional presence.

Located on Whitehall Road, close to Elland Road and just a mile from the city centre, Motorpoint Leeds will showcase hundreds of cars from more than 30 manufacturers.

Speaking on the new store, Mark Carpenter, Motorpoint Group CEO, said: “We’re excited to announce that we’re opening our 22nd store, just a stone's throw away from Leeds city centre.

“As the Car Buyer’s Champion, we know how important choice, value and quality are for West Yorkshire motorists when shopping for their next car.

“Once open, Motorpoint Leeds will double our presence in West Yorkshire and give car buyers the opportunity to browse and test drive more than 1,000 vehicles across both our new Leeds store and our existing Castleford store, as well as thousands more cars through our national stock.”

Recruitment is already underway for a range of managerial, sales and vehicle preparation roles at the new site.

The announcement follows a positive period for the used car retailer, with Motorpoint reporting an 80 per cent rise in pre-tax profit to £3.6m as part of its interim results released in November 2025.

The company also saw turnover up 15 per cent to £647.7m.

Used car sales for the firm listed 7.4 per cent during the period compared to the overall market which was up 2.8 per cent.
