The man behind 'Danny Vs Food' has been touring the country to host Extreme Robots

There’s one thing I’ll always be grateful to the power of social media for, and that’s its power of connection.

Different platforms have helped me connect with some amazing people, opportunities, and most of all creating a community for people with shared passions.

From my love of magic to food, family and, well, robots. I’ve helped create online communities through my channels Danny Vs Food, Mr and Mrs Yorkshire and Danny Vs Robots.

Let me explain the latter.

Never did I think I’d be hosting a live show featuring some of the legendary robots from BBC’s Robot Wars.

In the same way fans of my YouTube channel tell me they religiously watch Danny Vs Food each week, I used to watch Robot Wars on TV.

When I was presenting on LDC Radio , as part of my YouTube channel, a fellow presenter Ellie Scarlett introduced me to the guys behind Extreme Robots- Europe’s largest touring Robot combat show.

The shows feature legends from Battlebots and Robot Wars, including RW Champ Eruption, Thor, Gabriel and Tr4 who you’ll have heard of if you’re a robot geek like me.

In between my Danny Vs Food reviews I’ve been touring the country with Extreme Robots presenting at their shows as well as hosting a Danny Vs Robots YouTube series for them.

It’s been epic meeting the robot community and working with the guys backstage.

Hearing the phrase live “3,2,1 activate” is incredible.

Just as food evokes memories, so do robots.

This is the ultimate comfort food for me being around fellow robot fans, witnessing the roboteers battle it out and feeling the energy post-battle when I interview the winners.

It reminds me a lot of the street food community and the heart and soul they always put into their food.

I always think street food is the best kind of food because often the owner is the cook and the person behind the stall serving you.

While there’s healthy competition between vendors there’s also great camaraderie.

Similarly to our live robot shows, I love the atmosphere of street food markets and the passion that goes into every creation.

While I’m honoured to have a great online community through my channels Danny Vs Food, Danny Vs Robots and Mr and Mrs Yorkshire channel, you can’t beat the feeling of meeting people, robots and feeling the vibe of being together as humans sharing a common passion.
