10-year-old cyclist arrives at Elland Road as part of 970-mile charity challenge in memory of his grandad
“I’m excited to be in Leeds, my favourite part of being here is being able to go onto the pitch.”
A 10-year-old boy taking on a mammoth cycling challenge in memory of his grandad landed at Elland Road today - as he ticks off all 20 Premier League stadiums.
Charlie Collis is completing a 970-mile cycling challenge across England to raise cash for Cancer Research UK, a cause close to his heart.
His grandad died from cancer at just 65 years old, and now the youngster is fundraising to help support research and the fight against the disease.

Charlie made Leeds United’s home ground his latest stop after already cycling 205 miles in the first four days of his challenge.
Despite being a Southampton fan, Charlie was thrilled to receive a signed T-shirt and special welcome from Whites defender Jayden Bogle.
Charlie told Yorkshire Evening Post: “I’m excited to be in Leeds, my favourite part of being here is being able to go onto the pitch.”

The youngster’s challenge will take him across England over 16 consecutive days. His journey began in Newcastle on Saturday August 15, with the final stop at Bournemouth scheduled for Sunday August 30.
Charlie added: “The hardest part (of the ride) has been the rocky cycle paths and my legs hurting.”
Charlie and his family have set a target of raising £10,000 through a JustGiving page, and more than £2,500 has been donated so far.
Hayley, Charlie’s mum, told us: “I can’t put into words how incredibly proud I am of him. At just 10-years-old, he is taking on an incredibly tough challenge, showing determination and courage beyond his years. He truly is an inspiration to everyone around him. I know his Grandad would be looking down on him with immense pride every step of the way.”
