11 fabulous photos of stunning 'ariel ballet' from starlings at Leeds nature reserve

These stunning pictures show starlings performing an "aerial ballet" in a nature reserve.

Martin Goff, who captured the action in Leeds on Saturday, said: "I was photographing in the reserve and there were lots of juvenile starlings there who seem to spend their entire time fighting and squabbling.

"As someone who enjoys photographing interactions and behaviour between animals this was right up my street.

"Especially when the squabbles were in mid air as to me it really looked like aerial ballet."

The behaviour is thought to be part of starling social development, helping them establish dominance, as well as compete for food and territory.
