On July 13, Leeds will celebrate a remarkable milestone - 400 years since receiving its first city charter from King Charles I.
The decision changed the course of the city’s history and laid the foundations for modern-day Leeds. And Leeds 400 celebrations have been taking place across the city this year, shining a spotlight on our city’s past, present and future.
One Leeds school is celebrating the milestone with a community-focused project that our children have helped to design and lead.
Every class at Whinmoor St Paul's C of E Primary School is creating a time capsule, capturing memories of life in Leeds today which will be buried for future generations to discover.
The pupils are also decorating 400 pebbles and 400 wooden discs, which will be hidden in local parks and community spaces, and they have set themselves the challenge of collecting 400 pieces of litter.
Here are heartwarming pictures from the Leeds 400 celebrations at Whinmoor St Paul's C of E Primary School.
