‘For a small club, it's absolutely brilliant’: Batley dog training group celebrates ‘amazing’ Crufts results
A dog training group is celebrating yet more success at Crufts.
Since being established in November 2021, Soothill Ringcraft Club, which is based at the Whitfield Centre in Batley, has gained positive results at the prestigious annual canine competition.

And this year was no different, with many local dog owners claiming a prize.
Notable local wins included Megan Pinder, from Batley, placing third in her class with Ralph the cocker spaniel and Beth Boyden, from Liversedge, coming fourth in her class with Mabel the German shorthaired pointer.

Elaine Banks, from Tingley, with Derek the French bulldog placed first in one class and second in another.
In what was their first-ever Crufts show, Emily Gill and Harley the dalmatian won their class, along with Jackie and Chris Johnson, and Freya the schnauzer. Tony the miniature smooth haired dachshund was second, third and fifth in his classes.
Three of Soothill Ringcraft Club’s junior handlers also did well including Erin Gala with Bella the bull terrier, Jacob Perfitt-Jones with Tabitha the Alaskan malamute and Charlotte Robertshaw with her golden retriever Ruby.

Ruth Copping, co-founder of the club, said: “For a small club like ours it is absolutely brilliant. We have been running for four and a half years and have had some amazing results at Crufts.
“Hopefully we will do even better next year.”
Crufts is an annual international dog show organised by The Kennel Club, which was first held in 1891.
Soothill Ringcraft Club runs sessions every Wednesday at the Whitfield Centre, 180 Soothill Lane, Batley, WF17 6HP.
