Rob Burrow: Full route map as Leeds Rhinos to host seven mile Roundhay Park memorial run

The full route map has been confirmed for the Rob Burrow memorial run.

Runners will set off from Roundhay park tonight (Friday, June 7) at 7pm to participate in the Strava Rhino route run.

Organised by the Leeds Rhinos Foundation, the event will pay tribute to Rob Burrow following his death on Sunday after a four-and-a-half-year battle with motor neurone disease (MND).

The course was put together by local avid runner, John Mcloughlin, to raise awareness of Motor Neurone Disease and funds for research, care and potential treatments for the MND Association and Leeds Hospitals Charity.

Runners are asked to gather at the main Roundhay Park gates on Prince’s Avenue, assembling between 6.45pm and 6.50pm, with a 7pm start time - inspired by Burrow’s iconic Leeds Rhinos jersey.

They will then follow the route from Prince’s Avenue, along Street Lane before looping around via Harrogate Road, King Lane, onto Allerton Grange, Lidgett Lane and finally back to the gates at Roundhay Park. A full route map is viewable via the Strava website and app.

Participants of all abilities are welcome, with a variety of paces ensuring that everyone can get involved. This event is about community, remembrance, and celebrating Rob’s life. Participation in this event is voluntary, with runners taking part at their own volition and risk.

Runners are encouraged to wear their Rob Burrow Marathon tops, replica jerseys or similar attire, creating a sea of blue and amber as we take to the streets of Leeds.

For those who wish to extend their support beyond the run, donations can be made to the Burrow family support fund here.
