Katy’s Wish Fulfilled: Family raises more than £10,000 for The Prince of Wales Hospice
Katy Powell’s wish has been honoured in the most heartfelt way.
The mother-of-four and her loved ones received exceptional care and compassion when she arrived at the hospice just 10 weeks after her devastating diagnosis.
Though Katy is sadly no longer with us, her family and local community have come together to fulfil her wish of supporting The Prince of Wales Hospice.
Thanks to their incredible efforts and the support of the Matthew22 Fund, set up as a specialist fund in 2022 to raise money for the Bone Cancer Research Trust in memory of Matthew Hollingworth. they have raised an amazing £10,525.

Katy spent her final weeks at The Prince of Wales Hospice.
Her husband, Daniel, said: “We can’t put into words how much we appreciate the hospice and the team.”
Katy’s fundraising appeal began while she was receiving palliative care. Her goal was to raise £10,000 to help other families experience the same support.
Today, that goal has been surpassed, thanks to the generosity of friends, family, the wider community, and the Matthew22 Fund, which partnered with Katy’s family to ensure every penny raised will go directly to The Prince of Wales Hospice as a grant.
Lydia Puntas Salas, Individual Giving Fundraiser at The Prince of Wales Hospice, said: “The funds will help more families access the specialist care and wellbeing services offered by the hospice. Katy’s legacy will live on through this incredible achievement.
“On behalf of The Prince of Wales Hospice, I’d like to say a heartfelt thank you to everyone who donated and supported Katy’s wish during such a difficult time. Your kindness has made a lasting difference.”
