Can you believe the sheer scale of the emotional rollercoaster we’ve just been through?
There is nothing quite like the shared tension, the collective hope, and the ultimate drama of a major tournament run to bring the entire city together.
Leeds-based lifestyle, portrait, and documentary photographer Paul Craig has been capturing the public viewing spaces of our city for his latest poignant project, ‘Watching England.’
His goal throughout the tournament has been to document the raw emotion, intense drama, and distinct local rituals of the crowd—capturing the split-second transitions from nervous anticipation to unbridled joy, and ultimately, the collective devastation of the final whistle.
In fact, Paul admits he hasn’t actually witnessed a single goal himself because his eyes are constantly locked onto the crowd.
