Leeds lads drive 5000km across Africa in a yellow taxi to support sports charity
Here’s why two Leeds lads spent three weeks driving a London cab around Africa 🚖
Two men from Leeds have travelled 5,000km across sub-Saharan Africa in a big yellow taxi to raise money for charity.
Greg Proll & Andy Neath decided to take on The Africa Rally, an annual charitable road trip which asks competitors to use the most ridiculous vehicles possible to drive through the continent.
For three weeks across July, they travelled across countries including South Africa, Malawi, and Tanzania, in a London taxi which already had 400,000 miles on the clock.

The pair were raising money for the Bhubesi Pride Foundation, a charity which champions youth empowerment through rugby.
The Africa Rally was first created in 2021 and has seen vehicles from ice cream vans to stretch limos take on the route.
Yet, this is the first ever time a London taxi has made it to the finish line.
Greg and Andy were driving one of 50 vehicles taking part in this year's race, with competitors assembled from across the world for this crazy experience.

The Leeds lads faced numerous challenges along their way including an electrical fault at the very start which required the ignition to be ot-wire in order to cross the start.
However, they held their own and made a lifetime of memories in just a few weeks.

Highlights included crossing the Salt Pans in Botswana, cruising past Victoria Falls in Zambia, and the steep mountain passes in Malawi.
After three weeks of driving along epic roads, they reached the finish line in Bagamayo on July 25.
Entry for the 2027 Africa Rally is now open.
