Crowds gathered at Roundhay Park today as Leeds experienced its deepest solar eclipse in 27 years.
Stargazers, families, and budding astronomers gathered at Roundhay Park this evening (August 12) to witness West Yorkshire’s deepest solar eclipse in nearly three decades.
Roughly 91% of the sun was obscured over Leeds during the early evening event, members of the Leeds Astronomical Society set up specialised solar-filtered telescopes and equipment to help the public safely observe the Moon passing across the Sun.
Despite sitting low on the western horizon, the clear weather provided incredible sightlines across the parkland as the city came together for the rare astronomical display.
Yorkshire Evening Post photographer Gerard Binks was on hand at Roundhay Park to capture the atmosphere, the crowd, and the sky.
