21 illuminating photos from the inaugural Manston Park lantern parade in Cross Gates

Dozens of lanterns brightened up Manston Park in east Leeds during its inaugural parade this weekend.

Organised by local resident Helen Lucy, the family-friendly event was designed to “bring the community together” during the dark winter months.

Speaking at the event, Lucy said: “I just thought it would be a really nice idea to get local residents together to make lanterns in workshops.

“We’ve made 84 [lanterns] in total, and today is the culmination of that.”

The parade through Manston Park was accompanied by the Corpus Christi Brass Band, while Fireman Dave entertained the crowd with a fire show afterwards.
