New ANPR parking heading to Wakefield's Trinity Walk - here's all you need to know

New state-of-the-art car park equipment is being installed at Trinity Walk.

The new way of paying for your parking will start next week (from Monday, November 24) and take between seven and 10 days to complete.

The new kit will use automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) on the way in meaning (almost) no tickets.

When fully installed, the new system will mean you won’t need a ticket on entry, then before you leave just visit a new pay station, type in your car reg and it’ll tell you how much you owe.

If a registration plate can’t be read, you’ll be given a paper ticket, which will need to be paid by using the old pay station.

If the barrier raises automatically on entry, you’re on the new system where you type in your car reg. The pay stations will be signed.

Two hours free parking when £10 or more spent at Sainsbury’s will continue and will be be printed on an additional ticket that follows the customer receipt, so customers will have to make sure they ask for/print a receipt. No ticket, no discount.

The system remains a card and contactless payments only, by card or phone. No cash is accepted.

Parking charges apply to all vehicles, including Blue Badge Holders, and are in line with other car parks in Wakefield city centre.

Lost tickets are charged at the full day rate of £12.

Trinity Walk said: “We’ll do our very best to make it smooth as possible, but please bear with us during this short period if there are any ‘bumps in the road’.”
