'One to watch': Young Wakefield boxing champ, 11, preparing for next big fight

A young boxing champ from Wakefield is preparing for his next battle in the ring after already securing 10 wins from 10 fights.

Issac Nicholson, 11, who boxes for Laisterdyke ABC in Bradford, hopes to be crowned Yorkshire champion and national champion in April.

Mum, Catherine, said: “He had an interest in boxing from a young age and showed exceptional sporting talent and has always done so well.

"He trains hard and has had 10 fights, 10 wins and stopped one competitor in the ring in just eight seconds.”

Isaac won Best Skillful Boxer in 2024 and the Hull Box Cup in 2025 along with the Home Counties Box Cup in London.

"He’s now training for the School Boys Championship in April,” Catherine said.

"That should hopefully secure him as Yorkshire Champion before going on to the National Championships – his biggest achievement.

“We are so proud of him and love watching him do what he does best!

"He has many trophies and medals and there’s hopefully more to come if he keeps up the good work.

"He’s definitely one to look out for in the future.”
