'It feels kind, it might make them happy': Leeds boy donating his long hair to charity for his sixth birthday
Theo Rex from Leeds has been growing his hair out for several years. To mark his sixth birthday this month, he’s cutting it all off for charity.
Five-year-old Theo, from Rawdon, may very well have the longest hair of any of the boys at Tranmere Park Primary School.
But that’s all about to change, because as he approaches his landmark sixth birthday on March 28, he will be cutting it all off for a great cause.

For his big day’s “mane” event, Theo will be donating his long locks of hair to the Little Princess Trust, a charity which provides real hair wigs for children who have lost their hair through cancer treatment or other medical conditions.
“I want to give my hair to children who don’t have any. It feels kind, and it might make them happy,” Theo said.
In addition to donating his hair, Theo has launched a fundraising campaign aiming to raise £700 to help cover the cost of a wig.
His mum, Aimee Shimmin, explained that Theo had been wanting to cut his hair for some time but wanted to make the occasion meaningful.
“I suggested that if we were going to do it, we could make an event of it by donating his hair and raising money for charity,” she said. “When we found Little Princess Trust, and he realised it could help children who have lost their hair, he was really excited.

“He’s been growing his hair for years and wanted to help other children, and he keeps asking how much money we’ve raised so far. He’s very proud it’s going to help others, and we couldn’t be prouder of his kindness.”
The Little Princess Trust provides wigs for children and young people up to the age of 24. All costs, including making, fitting, and styling of the wigs, are met by the charity.
It also helps fund children's cancer research, with the aim of providing kinder and more effective treatments.
