Gordon the psychic pony predicted that England would get through to the World Cup semi- final – now he reckons the Three Lions will go all the way to the final.

The champion show hunter pony - who shares his name and his hairdo with forward Anthony Gordon - has been predicting the results of England’s matches and has been right every time.

The back-to-back European Championship runners-up are hoping to make their third final in four major tournaments and move within one step of ending their 60-year wait to bring football home when they take on Argentina tonight in Atlanta.

"It started when we asked him if he thought England would beat Mexico – and he snorted for yes,” said the YEP’s Kate Wobschall. “Then we put flags on to buckets and he’d put his nose in the one with the winning team on.

"Today, we put Messi on one post and Bellingham on the other – and he walked up to Jude every time. He’s got everything right so far – which is more than some of the TV pundits can say!”

Gordon is owned by Matthew Gawthorpe, who runs Landlord Direct Lets in Leeds, his wife Charlotte and daughters Florence and Mabel.

“He’s used to winning trophies himself in the show ring,” said Matthew, “but he seems to be a winner at the football predictions game as well. Let’s hope he’s right this time!”
