Rob Burrow: Remembering emotional moment Kevin Sinfield carried pal in Leeds Marathon footage

Watch the moment Kevin Sinfield carried his friend and former Leeds Rhinos teammate Rob Burrow over the finish line of the Leeds Marathon.

Rugby league legend Burrow died on Sunday (June 2) following a four-and-a-half-year battle with motor neurone disease (MND).

As friends and former Leeds teammates, Sinfield and Burrow raised millions together for charity to raise awareness and fund research into MND.

The emotional moment, at last year’s inaugural Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon, caught the hearts and minds of millions across the world.

Thousands of runners took to the streets of Leeds for the second marathon last month, which saw the friends reunited once more.

Burrow, 41, died at Pinderfield’s Hospital surrounded by his loving family after becoming ill earlier this week.

Former Rhinos captain Sinfield said the world had “lost a great man”, adding that his former teammate had been a “beacon of hope and inspiration” since his diagnosis.

He was joined in paying tribute by fellow Rhinos legend Jamie Jones-Buchanan and Prince William - who described Burrow as a “legend of Rugby League” who had a “huge heart”.
